IIJmio is a Japanese MVNO that operates on:

Before You Start
Requirements:
- Active IIJmio contract
- mioID
- Internet connection (Wi-Fi)
- eSIM-compatible device
- Identity verification completed
iPhone Setup
Step 1: Install eSIM
Open:
Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
Choose:
- Use QR Code
- Enter details manually if required
Complete eSIM installation.
Step 2: Enable the Line
Settings → Cellular
Select IIJmio line.
Enable:
- Turn On This Line
Step 3: Select Data SIM
Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data
Select:
- IIJmio
Disable:
- Allow Cellular Data Switching (optional)
Step 4: Configure APN Profile
This is the most common reason internet does not work.
Download IIJmio APN Profile.
Open:
Settings → General → VPN & Device Management
Install:
- IIJmio Configuration Profile
After installation:
Restart iPhone.
Step 5: Enable Data Roaming
Settings → Cellular → IIJmio
Enable:
- Data Roaming
This is safe within Japan.
Step 6: Enable 5G
Settings → Cellular → IIJmio → Voice & Data
Choose:
- 5G Auto
- or 5G On
If internet does not work:
Switch temporarily to LTE.
Step 7: Verify Connection
Top-right corner should show:
- LTE
- 4G
- 5G
Open Safari and verify internet access.
Android Setup
Step 1: Install eSIM
Settings → Network & Internet
SIMs → Add eSIM
Scan QR code.
Complete activation.
Step 2: Enable Mobile Data
Settings → SIMs
Select IIJmio.
Enable:
- Mobile Data
Step 3: Configure APN
Settings → Mobile Network → Access Point Names
Create new APN:

Username:

Authentication:
PAP or CHAP
Save.
Select the new APN.
Step 4: Enable 5G
Settings → Mobile Network
Preferred Network Type:
- 5G/4G/3G/2G Auto
Step 5: Test
Verify:
- LTE
- 4G
- 5G
appears in status bar.
Enable 5G Option
IIJmio requires the 5G option.
Login:
Navigate:
Service Settings → 5G Option
Enable 5G.

Common Problems
No Internet But Signal Exists
Cause:
APN profile missing.
Fix:
Install IIJmio APN profile.
eSIM Installed But No Signal
Cause:
Activation not completed.
Fix:
Wait for activation email.
Restart device.
No 5G
Cause:
5G option not enabled.
Fix:
Enable 5G through member page.
Slow Speed
Possible reasons:
- Network congestion
- Indoor signal
- Lunch hour traffic
- Commute hour traffic
Test at different times.
How To Cancel IIJmio
