Abound by Indiatimes for Money Transfer Nightmare: A True Review

I want to share my recent experience using Abound by Indiatimes to transfer money from the USA to India. I feel obligated to write this review because I don’t want anyone else to go through the anxiety and frustration I’ve faced over the past month.

What Lured Me In

Like many people, I was attracted by their competitive conversion rates and seemingly low or zero transfer fees. Abound is heavily promoted as a modern, easy, and rewarding way for NRIs to send money to India. It looked professional. Their website and app claimed fast transfers and even offered rewards and cashback. Compared to other options, their rates genuinely seemed too good to be true.

What Actually Happened

But now, more than 30 days after I sent money through their platform, I still haven’t received any update. My funds are stuck somewhere in limbo. I’ve tried everything—emailing their support, calling, and even reaching out on their social networks like LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Instagram. But all I got in response was silence or meaningless generic replies. No concrete information, no accountability.

Frankly, I feel scammed. It’s become clear that Abound is either woefully incompetent or, worse, deliberately dishonest.

I’m Not Alone—Others Are Suffering Too

After running into these issues, I started digging for answers online. I quickly discovered that I’m not the only one caught in this situation:

  • On forums like Reddit and comparison sites such as CompareRemit, dozens of users describe the exact same problem—money debited from their US accounts, weeks (sometimes months) of waiting, and total lack of meaningful support. “Sent money on June 18 and June 19… going to be one month and still no money received.”
“SCAM ALERT. They’ve been holding my money since July 1st. No proper updates, just excuses.”
“Initiated $6500 transfer on June 30th… still not credited. Worst transfer experience in my life.”
  • People mention that sometimes, when money finally arrives, it’s sent from unknown Indian bank accounts, creating compliance risks for the recipient and making it impossible to trace.
  • Reviews on the App Store and Google Play are full of complaints about “unresponsive support”, “app shows delivered but money never arrives”, and “stop, don’t install this scam app.”

The Painful Reality

What’s worse is the emotional toll. You trust a company with your hard-earned money, only to be left in the dark with no recourse. The stress of not knowing whether your money will ever reach your family or account is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Why Is This Happening?

Honestly, I can only speculate. Either Abound by Indiatimes is overwhelmed and can’t handle its operations, or it’s deliberately ignoring customers and keeping money longer than they should. Their attractive exchange rates and flashy cashback offers feel like a trap to lure new customers in, only to leave them stranded.

My Advice to Anyone Considering Abound

Please be very careful. My advice after this ordeal is simple:

  • Do not trust Abound by Indiatimes with your money until they prove they can deliver reliable service and genuine customer support.
  • Look for more established and transparent alternatives—services like Wise, Remitly, Western Union, or even your regular bank. Their rates might not be as flashy, but at least you’ll sleep at night.
  • If you’re already caught in this, document everything, escalate complaints, and, if possible, reach out to consumer protection or banking authorities.

Final Thoughts

No one should have to chase their own money for weeks or months after a simple transfer. A remittance company’s first and only job is to send your money safely and promptly. If it can’t do that—or worse, ignores you when things go wrong—it deserves to be called out.

If you’re reading this because you’re considering using Abound, please think twice. Don’t let attractive rates put your peace of mind and your family’s security at risk.

(If you’ve also had a bad experience with Abound, please share your story. The more people speak up, the less likely others will get trapped like we did.)
